West Indies, the side many thought is good enough to be in the company of the elites in the ICC U/9 Cricket World Cup, has found some consolation at least. They are in the final of the Plate Championship, a tournament for those who didn’t make it to the Super Eight, after a their six-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea at the Temmengong Ibrahim Teachers Training College in Johor Baru on Wednesday. They will play Nepal, the defending champion, in the final in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, March 1 at the Bayuemas Oval.
“We cannot win the big one but never mind we have the smaller trophy (Plate Champion) to fight for. For now that’s good enough and we want to win it and not go home empty handed,” said the West Indies coach Larry Gomes.
It is going to be a really attractive final where we could see West Indies’s best batting in best Nepali bowling. Till now West Indies had shown their talents in batting as their two batsmen are in top ten of leading run scorer and Nepal specialized in bowling where their 4 bowlers are in top list of wicket taker. Let’s see who will overcome from it?
West Indies has not accurate and wicket taking bowling as data shows and Nepalese batting is always rattling itself with their technique and shot selection.
So, both teams has to take advantage of their strong point and keep loosing point tight to get a title to be satisfy, that’s why I am saying it will be a interesting battle which we can’t miss.
