I don’t feel let down: Binod

REPUBLICA, KATHMANDU, Nov 11:-

Paras Khadka has replaced Binod Das from the captaincy of Nepali national cricket team. Binod was leading Nepali senior team for the last four years. Binod, however, doesn´t feel let down.

“We have been playing together for the last four years and he is talented cricketer,” Binod commented. “I wish that he performs better than me,” added Das.

Das said he enjoyed being a captain but he is not fully satisfied about team performance. “If the Nepali team had qualified for the final of ACC Trophy, I would have been more happy”, said the former skipper. Binod claims he left no stone unturned to improve the team´s performance as a captain. ” Major defeats during my captaincy were due to weak individual performance rather than my own decisions,” he added.

Nepal had won the ACC Premier League three-day cricket under Binod´s captaincy. This is the only major tournament won by Nepali national team. Nepal had played ICC World Division -2 Selection 2005, ACC Trophy 2006 and 2008 as well as Pepsi World Division League -5 2008 were the major 50 over tournaments under Binod´s leadership. Nepal could not cross the semifinals in all the four tournaments.

The failure of Nepali team in crucial matches was the dark side to his captaincy. “We could not make even 130 runs in two semifinal matches. I don´t think captain had much to do in such a case,” says Binod.

However, Binod is shattered because Cricket Association of Nepal didn´t consult him before deciding to appoint Paras Khadka as the new captain. “I would have been happier, if they had consulted me before deciding to appoint Paras,” said Binod.

  1. He is still playing not leaving the team.

Ya’ he is a very good player and now, he has to focus only on bowling, it may help him to break opposition back. Go Binod go, don’t give up…
