A Nepali passion for cricket

For Those who love Nepalese Cricket

we are very sorry for Singapore

Posted by Prabin the सोभित on शनिवार, फ्रेवुअरी 27, 2010

we are very sorry for Singapore not to go through but deserved that. I dont like how our team perform and the way they promoted, is real shame. At least, being the tournament 0rganiser, Nepal should apologise to Singapore about yesterday’s incedent which cause Singapore the final spot.

for that, i am not feeling good so don’t want to update the final match…

Hey guys I am a fan of Nepalese cricket, but after the other day, my whole perception has changed. I have trained and competed with many of the players like Binod Das, Pharas Khadma, Mehmoob Alam and Sharad, I know them personally as I am from the Singapore team and I have played with them in other tournaments. No doubt nepal is a talented team, I agree that they have remained stagnant for a pretty long time. Singapore did pretty well without their full squad and they played very well in this tournament. USA and Singapore do deserve to go through to Div 4. Unfortunately the same thing happened to singapore in Div 5 2008 where they beat all the teams including Afghanistan in the Div 5 tournament and lost one and they were demoted to Division 6 and Afghanistan won the tournament. It is really tough luck for singapore once again

YES YOU ARE TRUE, SINGAPORE WAS STRONG SIDE BUT NOT GOOD AS NEPAL. WE HAD BEAT YOU IN LAST ACC ELITE CUP 2008 BY 7 WICKETS AND AGAIN IN WCL 5 BY 16 RUNS. SO, WE ARE BETTER THAN SINGAPORE AND ONE THING I HATE MOST ABOUT SINGAPORIAN TEAM IS THAT THEY MAY NOT HAVE SINGLE PLAYER BORN IN SINGAPORE. ALL THE PLAYERS ARE BOUGHT FROM EITHER SRILANKA, INDIA AND PAKISTAN. DEAR FREN GLENN MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING, YOU CAN BUY PLAYERS AND GOOD COACH WITH MONEY BUT NOT PASSION OF CRICKET AMONG PEOPLE. MORE THAN 70% PEOPLE OF NEPAL KNOW PARAS, BINOD, MEHABOOB, SHAKTI BUT I AM SURE THAT ABOUT 90% IN YOUR COUNTRY DON’T KNOW WHO IS MENDIS AND ARORA. WE ARE BACK THEN OTHER ASSOCIATE COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY ALL HAVE PLAYERS FROM SUB CONTINENT. YOU CAN SEE MOST OF THE AFGHANISTAN PLAYERS AND WHOLE THE SQUAD FROM HONGKONG ARE FROM PAKISTAN. SO, DEAR FREN GLENN YOUR COUNTRY DESERVE TO GO ON DIVISION FOUR BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH AS NEPAL.

YOUR COUNTRY DIDN’T MANAGE TO WIN WITH BAHRAIN ALSO. SO, HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE STRONG THAN NEPAL?

Guys, let’s not make this more confrontational than it already has been. I just read an article on CricketEurope and one of the writers was hell pissed about Nepal’s advancement. First, Glenn, pretty much most Nepalese cricket fans agree with you in the sense that Singapore should have been promoted. As per the game, they would have inched up with a better run rate, hence advancement. We also understand that you had to go through a similar situation in 2008. We also understand that, you being a Singapore player, will definitely be inclined to support your team. But however, I must respectfully say that Nepal are somewhat better than the Singapore team. I only say this from the results of the Division 5 tournament. The match between Singapore and Fiji was quite close, and they also lost to Bahrain. They are playing much better now than I can last remember but their performance seem fluctuate. I think the only fair thing to do would be to promote Singapore to Division 4 as well, so that Nepal, Singapore and USA can battle it out once again along with the other teams. Because I believe that only the best teams should be able to get promoted.

now if CAN and government don’t think seriously about cricket and don’t start preparation right away, and still don’t have proper vision about future of cricket and ambition to play the world cup, there’s no point sending Nepali team to Italy to play WCL4 , especially with such batting.

may be, we need a new coach as well, an aggressive coach

      • You are right, We need new and an aggressive Coach to go to Div. 4. It has been so long, we have raised a issue to change our Coach who had not hit a single Six in his entire test cricket life and only one Six in One Day Cricket. He can only guide those who is learning how to handle to bat, where to hold etc. just those basic things.

You may know, when he was Coach of National team of Sri Lanka in 1999 world cup, then u know where they finished aftre WC as they were defending champion of 96 world cup. I also heard a commentary for the famous hard hitting batsman of that that,Sanath Jayasuriya, in that commentary, commentator quoted “Jayasuriya dosen’t know, which ball to hit and which to play” and Jayasuriya finished in low scores in the entire World Cup. then, what do u think, Jayasuriya did not know those things? I think, that caused of Mr. Roy Dais who always prevent to hit in the air.

Hitting the air is not always wrong but as a Coach, he should guide them to how to hit and which ball to which side of the ground and which to where… pull, hook, cut…….We need just these things to be solved rather than preventing boundries in the power plays.

his contract is ending in march and I had listen that CAN is not going to extend his contract though Roy has asked for the extension of two years. So, hopefully we gonna have new coach before WCL 4..

i am now caught in a dilemma.

first, i am glad that nepal got a chance to go to division 4. but that was not the way i was expecting. it is really strange to hear the we got promoted because of the crowd behavior. we have never been lucky in the past. there were several times, we missed out on opportunities because of rain or something eventful happening. luck never seemed to be on our side.

at the same time, i know that singapore should have gone to division 4 instead of us. but i really have a difficult time swallowing the fact that the best two teams should go to italy…..and unfortunately, i do not consider singapore as one. singapore have been good but their performance can be pretty unpredictable. they may play really good, and the next time…it can play a totally different game. same as hong kong.

no matter what, i want the best 2 teams to go to division 4 because most likely, those same two teams will go to division 3. there are many teams up ahead in rankings who i think do not deserve to be there. you have to be a good team to get a higher spot in ranking not just be lucky. in associates, asia has some of the best teams and could beat teams from other continents…eg. argentina, fiji, etc. yet they are ranked lower. back to my point, i think nepal and usa are two teams that are much better that the current division 4 teams and no matter how unjustful it may seem, i am ok with luck being on our side for once!

    I agree with Prabin.
Surely its not the honorable way… very embarrassing rather…
Bad cricketing decisions and repetition of mistakes cost us dearly

Singapore has what it takes, Not us…sadly
They deserved to move ahead !!! (look at they way they batted and bowled, one tight loss held them back)

Our batting is being exposed all the time, and nothing has been done about it.
    What is the coach doing?
