Nepal won the title of WCL Division five tournament after beating USA by 5 wickets in the final at Kirtipur, Kathmandu.
This is very important to win in the final against USA because we lost against them in last round robin match which almost cost us, the place in the final and promotion to div. 4 which is given to the both finalist of the tournament.
It shows, that was only a bad day, after playing very good cricket in other matches Nepal almost choked out again in the vital match. Nepal started the match with a bad decision to bat first after winning the toss, if Nepal batted second then we could know the total and in the same time we could know, how many runs we need to qualify, even we lost the match. And batted poorly and managed just 162 runs which could not be counted as a big total in any means and not for the USA’s batting side.
Anyhow, Nepal made in the final and secure a place in the div. 4 which is going to start at coming August in Italy. The div. 4 is also contest between six nations as div. 5. Italy and Tanzania were stayed at div 4 from last year’s competetion, Argentina and Cayman Island were relegated from the div. 3 tournament and now Nepal and USA are promoted from the div. 5.
In the final, luckily we loss the toss this time which Paras rarely loss, we can’t say what he would do if he won, USA opted to bat first in the green pitch than other earlier pitches. They were bowled out for 172 in 47.2 overs thanks to the left armer Rahul Bishwakarma who dismissed USA single handedly by taking 7 wickets in his 8.2 overs for 15 runs. Then, Nepal changed again in the opening pair for the final as Dipendra dropped so Mahesh broght up with Anil. This pair paid off this time with 85 runs for the first wicket which is not seen in nepal’s international matches for a long time. The big first wicket partnership helped alot Nepal to chase the target, but lost wickets in regular intervals. In the way the target was getting closer and closer, and finally Gyanendra and Mahboob carried their bats until the win. The second international title for Nepalese Cricket, first in the ICC event.
That means Nepal is not bad team in the tournament, it was just a bad day which always comes at vital matches. It shows, Nepal is lacking in confident in pressured match so, CAN has to solve it as quickly as possible.
