Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has selected same 14-member squad, which played in the WCL div. 5 in kathmandu, for the ACC Trophy Elite Cup scheduled for Kuwait from March 31 to April 9.

The CAN has named Paras Khadka the Captain and Gyanendra Malla his deputy for the tournament and others in squad include Binod Das, Shakta Gauchan, Mahboob Alam, Basanta Regmi, Dipendra Chaudhari, Sharad Vesawkar, Mahesh Chhetri, Anil Kumar Mandal, Rahul Kumar BK, Sanjam Regmi, Amrit Bhattarai and Binod Bhandari.

Meanwhile Subash Khakurel, Pradeep Airee and Naresh Budhayer were named as reserves, Prithu Baskota left the camp because of his exam and Avay Rana and Dhirendra Bahadur Chand could not able to join the closed camp training at the Tribhuvan University Stadium because of. CAN also named Roy Luke Dais the team coach, Suresh Dutta Pandey the assistant coach and Binod Kumar Mainali the manager.

Nepal are drawn in Group A with the defending champions Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait and Oman in the eighth edition of the tournament. Group B includes the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Afghanistan, Malaysia, Bahrain and Bhutan.

I don’t understand why CAN selected same team from the last tournament after knowing the fact of batting weaknesses. Why don’t they try to solve it trough putting some more batsmen in the side? if they want to put same squad for the tournament then why are they making dramas of selection. If yes, then why didn’t they provide them more practice matches rather than close camps. When will CAN learn from their past? Don’t they visit at websites, where they could know what their fans wants from them? Why don’t they want to listen voice from the fans?

  1. I think, CAN does not know what are they mistaking? applying with same mistake again and again does not do anything good for them.

Yup great work on finding out the information. However, his visa had been rejected twice already and so was applying for the third time. Spelling error? I wonder…Let’s just hope he will make it to the games.

Why on earth would the Kuwait Embassy not give a visa to the vice-captain? He is one of the descent batsmen we have!!!

Subash khakurel was wonderful in SAG, wonderful in practice matches against USA & Fiji.He should have been given a chance in place of Mandal.
    Where’s Paresh Lohani?
Without practice matches, it’s not ganna work.

CAN doesn’t understand how important this tournament is.It is a chance to show supremacy among non-test playing Asian nations. And, Results do matter Though the top two won’t get chance to play Asia Cup this time, it is really important for Nepal as WCL division 4 is in few months and this is an wonderful opportunity to prepare as well as gain some confidence.

Anyways, not a bad squad at all. But this being tough competition I say “When going gets tough, tough gets going.
