Nepal through to the Semi-Final

Posted by Prabin the सोभित on आइतवार, अप्रील 4, 2010

Nepal got a place in the semifinal without playing its last match against Kuwait on april 6, tuesday after today’s match where Oman beat Kuwait by 5 wickets.

Congratulation to them for going through but the major match is coming ahead that Nepal could get mighty Afghanistan ” an ODI playing nation” in the semifinal and that match will be the real test for Nepal.

We were gone there without our VC gyanendra and Afghanistan is also without the service of their VC Mohammad Nabi, so it could be major plus point to Nepal as Mohammad Nabi  had played major role in our no. of defeats against Afghanistan.

(Update: Gyanendra got the visa and was scheduled to fly monday to Kuwait to play remaining matches that means Mohammad Nabi also might got the visa, then the semifinal will be full strength side vs full strength side. nothing to ask more than it to beat full strength side).

Now, the equation is gone in the  favor of Nepal with 6 points from 3 matches and one match remaining to play, Oman got 4 points from it’s 3 matches, Hongkong also has 4 points from 3 matches and kuwait has only 2 points from 3 matches, Singapore is already gone out of the tournament after loosing all their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Nepal will play its last league match against Kuwait, has no effect on points whatever the result outcome as Kuwait already being out of the tournament and in the same day Hongkong and Oman will play eachother, from that match the winner will go through to semifinal as 2nd semifinalist from the group A. But Winner and runner up of the group will be decided only after tuesday’s matches, no other two teams could go beyond Nepal’s 6 point to stop to go through.

In the other group, the equation is going to be more interesting after Malaysia thrashed Bhutan by 10 wickets in only 5.2 overs, where they crossed the target of 69 runs. Now, they have got 2 point from 2 matches and if they manage to win against UAE, they could go top against Afghanistan with 4 points in the basis of net run rate. Till now, they has +2.49 and Afghanistan has 4 points and net run rate + 2.6 after playing all their league matches.

Why is Binod Das not included in the team? He is the best bowler of Nepal. Just to make batting a bit stronger, we can’t take best bowler out of the team. Or is it that the new captain doesn’t like him?

Gyanendra got visa and he is going kuwait on monday…it is said that he is playing against kuwait…………..I don’t know how they will manage first 11 now…..Dipendra is also batting well throughout the tournament….it would be better include gyanendra in the place of sanjam……who has taken jus one wicket in three matches….
